A smooth check-in process creates a positive first impression and saves you and your guests time. It can also lead to repeat business and positive word-of-mouth recommendations. As a spot host, there are several steps you can take to provide a smooth guest check-in experience:

  • Provide clear directions to the camping site: Make sure your guests have clear directions before arriving at your spot by
    (1) Provide your guest check-in message, including any landmarks or notable features they can use to navigate. This will help them arrive at the camping site without getting lost.
    (2) Put spot signs along the way to direct your guest to the spot.
*If you are not able to check in guests on your own, please make sure to inform your guests. For instance, you can place a QR code sign at each pitch for guests to check in by scanning the code. (Learn more on how to create a self-check-in process).
  • Create a welcoming environment: Make sure the check-in area is clean, well-lit, and welcoming. If your guest checks in later at night, leave a light for them to see your spot. Additionally, provide some small surprises for your guests upon arrival, like offering them a drink or bread from the local bakery.
  • Brief tour of your spot: Give a tour for your guest around the spot or share with them about the surrounding area, remind them of the house rules, and show them where all amenities are located at your spot and how to use it. If you are not meeting guests in person, a hand-drawn or digital map might also help!
  • Provide information: Provide guests with a spot map and any relevant information they may need during their stay, such as the amenities manual or local guidebook. Learn how to create a manual for your spot.
  • Reassurance of your assistance: Be available to assist guests with any questions or concerns they may have during the check-in process. Learn how to Communicate with your guests / Tips for email communication with your guest.

We hope those tips can help you to provide a smoother and hassle-free check-in experience for your spot guests! Happy hosting!
