Advertise your spot in Facebook groups
There are many groups on Facebook that circle around the topics of camping and van life. Such groups are a great opportunity for you as a host to advertise your spot among travelers that are looking for exactly the kind of overnight stay you are offering. You can also learn about the latest camping trends here, get some tips and tricks from other hosts and connect with potential guests. Learn here how exactly you can utilize these groups to post about your spot.
    • Log into Facebook, and go to the Facebook search bar
    • Type in a search term, for example, “Camping in Croatia”
    • Filter the search results for groups

    • You will now see different groups on the right side – you will see how many members and posts the group has
    • You can now join groups that you find interesting or just post in public groups without becoming a member

To embed the link, you can write a catchy text that makes people want to book your spot. Here is an  example that you can use:

“Looking for a nice place surrounded by nature for your vacation in a van? Check out my roadsurfer spot, it offers you electricity, a hot shower, and freshly laid eggs in the morning (insert here what applies to your spot). Book your stay directly via: [insert link here]

For your reference, here are a few relevant Facebook groups for spots:

Market your spot on your own Facebook page
If you are already an active Facebook user, you can share your spot listing on your private Facebook page so that people in your friend list can see what you are offering. You can write a little introduction text and then link your spot listing in the post. Here is another catchy text example:
“Dear friends and family, I am happy to share with you my camping spot that I am offering on roadsurfer spots. We still have the capacity this weekend, so if you are looking for a time-out, just contact me or book directly via roadsurfer spots: [insert your spot's link here]

If you don’t have a huge friend list or want to go the extra mile for advertising your spot, you can create a new page for your spot. This is how it works:

1. In the Facebook overview, click on “See all”

* Kind reminders for Facebook online marketing:

  • Respect the group rules: most groups don’t allow spamming or advertisement. But if you ask a group admin if you can post your spot, they will surely allow you to do so!
  • Include your spot link in your posts or comments: To lead guests to check out your spot page and book it directly if they like it.
  • Check your page regularly: Make yourself a routine of checking the pages so that you can share more if someone is looking for a spot like yours via the channel.
