What is required for my bank verification?

For all types of payment account types, you have to provide the bank account information for verification. To provide bank account details, you have options to verify via the mobile banking app/ website that normally gets instant feedback, or you can upload a bank statement for verification, which will take a few days to complete the verification process.

What types of bank documents are accepted?

The proof of bank account can be any of the following:

  • Bank statements
  • Deposit tickets or deposit forms
  • Screenshots of their online banking environment
  • Official letters issued by a bank
  • Cheques
  • Location-specific documents: Relevé d'Identité Bancaire (RIB): bank document in France

Do not upload photos of bank-issued cards, such as credit or debit cards. These contain sensitive information.

What are the requirements for all documents?

The documents must have the following:

  • The account holder's name. This must match your legal entity account name.
  • The account number or IBAN needs to be visible.
  • The date of issuance needs to be visible and needs to be dated less than 12 months ago. This requirement applies to all types of documents except for RIBs, cheques, online banking environment, or TAMIEYTHPIO.

Some RIBs and online banking environments contain a date of issuance. The date of issuance for these must also be less than 12 months ago.

  • The country/region where the bank account is located. For EU bank statements, Adyen infers the country/region from the IBAN.
  • An indicator that the document was issued by a bank, such as the bank logo or the bank name in its bank-specific font.

If the bank account is issued under the trading (doing business as) name, it may be necessary to provide a supporting document in order to establish a connection between the legal entity and the trading name.

We do NOT accept:

  • Photos of bank-issued cards, such as credit or debit cards.
  • Edited or personalized documents.
  • Documents issued more than 12 months ago.
  • Documents where required data points are missing.

If you are uploading documents manually, please make sure the uploaded document meets the following file format and size requirements:

  • Formats: JPEG, PNG, PDF.
  • File size: Maximum 10MB
  • File type: PDF, PNG, or JPG formats are supported

Once the file is uploaded, the system will process it and notify you if the bank account verification was successful.

Why was my bank account verification rejected?

If your bank account verification was rejected, here are a few common reasons:

  1. The document you uploaded was not clear or was of low quality. Ensure that all information is legible and that the document is not blurry or cropped.
  2. The document did not contain the necessary information (such as the account holder’s name, account number, or bank details).
  3. The document was issued more than 12 months ago. Ensure that your document is recent and falls within the required timeframe.
  4. The account name did not match the name registered with us. Ensure that the name on the bank account matches the legal entity name.
  5. There were issues with the file format or size. Ensure the file is under 10MB and in an accepted format (PDF, PNG, JPG).
