How to be a responsible guest at a campsite?

  • Know before you go: Before hitting the road, get to know your destination and pack accordingly. Doing your homework can help you handle surprises along the way.
  • Stay in touch: When booking, let your host know your estimated arrival time. If your plans change, use the roadsurfer spots chat or call your host to keep them in the loop. (How can I contact my host?/ How can I communicate my check-in time with the host?)
  • Respect rules and others: Be aware of local customs and read the spot’s house rules. Be considerate of neighbors, follow speed limits, and observe quiet hours. Remember, you're sharing the space with others. If you have pets, keep them in control or on a leash if needed.
  • Protect the nature: Respect your host's land rules. Only use a fire place if allowed. Treat the environment kindly by obeying rules and ensuring your travel companions do it.
  • Leave no trace: Dispose of waste responsibly and be mindful of where you leave your footprint. Follow safety guidelines and know where to dispose of trash or take it with you when you leave.
  • Share your experience: Leave a review to help future roadsurfers get a feel for the spot. Your feedback matters!
